What people don’t understand about Blogs..

So, I got to work this morning, eager to check if I had any comments on my posts..as most bloggers do..

And this was my most recent comment on the post “Pierre and Friends,”

dear you have to slow down and stop bla bla, change the font and teh display of your blog and put nice pictures please

Naturally, I rushed to Unapprove/Delete the comment..

“I don’t want my viewers reading comments like this?!?” I thought..

But then, it came to me..who the hell is this dude to tell me what I need to do with MY blog..What font I need to use, what pictures to display?   Only my Momma tells ME what to do!  And so far, she seems to love my blog!

Now let me get this straight..I don’t mind critical posts on my blog when it comes to the actual content of the blog..If I’m wrong about something, or if you’ve had a different experience, please, CALL ME OUT.  My grandfather sends me grammar corrections all the time actually… But please, refrain from bashing the style and the design of the blog!   That’s like telling me I have no sense of style..which may be true..but it’s still MEAN!

I’m not a designer, nor am I a photographer.  Oh, and while we’re at it, I’m also not an official news source..

I’m just a 23 year old girl from Miami..who is living and working in Lebanon..

Aaaand..These are my stories, and my experiences, and I write them as I see them..plain and simple.

If you don’t like them, if my font disturbs you, and if you think my photos are shite..perhaps my blog is just not for you!

He also left a similar comment on another blog. It’s a troll.

  2. Don’t mind him, he also left a similar comment on my blog (http://www.plus961.com/2010/05/12/beirut-is-an-ugly-city/) calling it ugly, but I chose not to reply.
Anyway, if you think about it, there really are NO bad comments, no matter how bad the visitor is criticizing you! At the end he’s adding content to your website, which might help you get more visitors who could be googling any of the keywords he used in his comment😉

  3. I totally agree. A blog is neither a novel, nor a short story in some competition.

I really enjoy your style, your pictures and they are the most honest way of spreading what you like, what you encounter and what you experience.

There’s no need to philosophize everything as simplicity has its charm and its attire.

You’re doing a great job. And a blog is a website visited only for pleasure. When one doesn’t like, one doesn’t read. This is how it’s supposed to be.

Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing. It’s always a pleasure to dig in your life and your lens/writings are the perfect reflection and transparency that make your blog interesting.

I do agree that you have to slow down and stop bla bla. This is a well know matter of fact. The faster you go, the more accelerated bla bla gets. Therefor, by slowing down, you can stop bla bla simultaneously. 2 birds in 1 stone.

Yes Danielle, I do love your blog. I look forward to checking it out almost every day to see what new and interesting you have “discovered”. I am amazed how you can find something of interest to write about even the simplest of things and to relate it to your own perspective or prior experiences – for example … a juice box or Nescafe! But you see … it’s not just juice or coffee, it is part of the Lebanese culture and your own perception of that … I am so thrilled that you are making the most of your stay and sharing the experience with us.

You go girl. Don’t take on small minds.

  7. Some crazy people do tend to leave such stupid remarks.
I am Lebanese but I live in Kuwait…your blog keeps me updated on real life Lebanon, not the silly politics that fills the media. Not to mention you tend to provide a new perspective on some issues.
I really enjoy reading your blog…keep the nice posts coming!

Thank you! I really do appreciate all of these wonderful comments! Motivates me to work harder! Thanksssssss!!

  8. I read the article a couple of times and could not find anything really. The only “bla bla” on that page was his/her comment. And unless he/she’s Steve McCurry or someone of his caliber, he/she should keep his lame photography comment to himself/herself.

We all get such comments from time to time. They’re just like bird sh*t; Annoying, disgusting, but really harmless and you forget about them as soon as you wipe them off.

Woah woah woah! First of all, don’t let no stoopid trolls get ya down, y’hear me?
Secondly, we can call you out on grammar? Oooooh nelly, are you gonna ever regret saying that!

  10. Your Blog is what got me interested in the first place! Its YOUR way of expressing yourself.
I got worse comments about my blog too…idiots…they’re out there wasting time on nonsense while some of us are enjoying their time sharing useful and interesting info….

I’m an art director, your website rocks….less is more😉

  11. I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good.
I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already😉 Cheers!
